| John Leech, MP for Manchester Withington | 30th July 2010 |
Working All Year Round1.50.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 9th Oct 2007 Election's off, but MP for Manchester Withington, John Leech, promises to keep on campaigning. John Leech MP and Liberal Democrat councillors in Manchester Withington have announced they will carry on with their local campaigning despite the decision of the Prime Minister not to hold an election this autumn. John and his local Lib Dem colleagues have been delivering newsletters and calling on local residents throughout the summer and early autumn. The health survey is one such campaign John has instigated, asking for local people's experience of local health providers, and the response has been overwhelming. John Leech MP said 'The Liberal Democrats are not just around when there is an election coming up. We campaign all year round. 'Gordon Brown ramped up expectation of an autumn election and only backed off when he realised his majority in Parliament would disappear. 'The Liberal Democrats in Withington however are not disappearing. We will keep on campaigning. While the other parties close down for the winter following Mr Brown's announcement, the Liberal Democrats are already hard at work writing our next community newsletters to keep residents in touch with what is happening in Manchester Withington.'
