Neil Trafford12.31.19pm GMT Fri 5th Dec 2008
John Leech MP and local councillors have expressed their shock and sadness at the death of Neil Trafford, a councillor for West Didsbury, in a car accident last weekend. Neil, who has been described as a 'rising star' of Manchester politics represented the West Didsbury ward for 5 years, as well as being the Liberal Democrat campaigns officer for the North West. John says 'I am deeply shocked that someone so young and in the prime of his life has been taken from us. Neil wasn't just a colleague, he was a good friend, who never failed to inspire and motivate those who were privileged enough to have known him.' Colleagues have praised his dedication and commitment to Didsbury, and have spoken highly of his personal qualities in passing on their condolences to his family. A memorial service will be held on Friday 5th December at 14:30 at Manchester Town Hall. If you would like to attend, or to send messages of sympathy to Neil's family and friends, please contact John Leech's office by post at 8 Gawsworth Avenue, East Didsbury, Manchester M20 5NF, or email leechj@parliament.uk.
