Local Lib Dem MP John Leech has given his support to diabetes testing by having the test done himself.

At a special event in the Commons, Mr Leech took the quick and easy test for type 2 diabetes to raise awareness of the need for more testing and awareness of the disease.

At the event, organised by the charity, Silver Star, John Leech said:

"Diabetes is a serious condition. Such a quick and easy test makes life much easier for everyone. I want to see much greater government action on diabetes awareness, and would encourage local residents to be aware of the symptoms and get them checked."
